What any kind of seizure is extremely serious, especially if you are blind/vi, go back Rosetta and demand a thorough check up..I have atonic and partial seizures and they are very frightening.

Hm... WandererRosetta, I suspect that the reason they didn't do tests is that they suspect it to be "just" panic attacks. Those are nasty, but not dangerous.

That sounds far more serious than a panic attack, any inexplicable disturbance in the body or brain, should be thoroughlly examined.

yes, agreed with Susanne.

So you honestly think this should be left as it is, I'm relieved, you are not a doctor.

I agree with Goblin. It's best to have a problem like that being looked at more seriously. I'm not an expert either, but I know that seizures don't have to be where you completely faint or that sort of thing. The thing that would make me think it's not just panic attacks is that she's smelling something before those episodes, and usually with a seizure, you have little signals like that before the actual seizure. WandererRosetta, I would honestly go to other doctors and tell them your concerns. I'm sure there has to be some kind of tests or brain scans that will detect that. I don't know that for sure, but I would think so. Or I know that dogs or other animals can sense seizures also. That would be a weird way of finding out, but, I don't know. Just go to other doctors to get a second or third or more opinions on this.

Some of the symptoms you're having are from having panicattacks.

Tinkerbell Your spot on.The smell is a dead give away I have talked with many people suffering seizures of this discription and they all experienced this or saw lights before collapsing..I cannot believe the Doctor would diagnose a seizure then be callous enough to leave the room, its gross negligence. Perhaps WR, you could try to describe the smell, some have said it's like sweet apples.

Doesn't really sound like a panic attack--some of the symptoms, but WondererRozetta, you've got the aura sounding thing--i.e. the smelling of things before all the rest happens, so.
I agree with Goblin and the rest that you should see a doctor. You could be having "partial" seizures, as Goblin talked about.

There's something called "psychogenic" seizures in which you have a seizure as a result of a stress/anxiety stimuli. The doctor's use to think that's what I had, but then they did an E E G which shows if there is any electircal activity (I.E) seizure going on. Ask the Dr. about getting an E E G. All they do is glue a bunch of wires to your head and then you simply lay there; no pain or funny sounds or anything like that. Good Luck!

I'm back. But the hospital in my town found nothing nothing wrong after I was dragged in by ambulance last August. They said it might be a partial seizure but did no further tests other than a catscan to find out wtf is going on.
They're changing and getting worse, and I cannot see another doctor, because something about our insurance, or something irratic like this.
All I do now is just lie here and be able to do nothing. I'm also now suffering from headaches that do not go away and get worse. My doctor will give me no medicine, afraid I'll get addicted to it and decided to give me albuterol for a cough after I eat. That medication could be dangerous for me, since my heart rate is somewhat irregular but she won't diagnose anything. She's incompetent as hell.

I know next to nothing about this, but a friend of mine has partial seizures where she will suddenly smell bonfire smoke. It won't fade in our out. One minute it'll be there, te next it won't.

I have a friend who takes seizures and headaches. It is another type of epilepsy. I am not sure what. But you should see another doctor.

I've seen this show called diagnosis unknown, where patients suffer from really rare diseases, and their doctors keep referring them to these specialists who don't listen to them. If you haven't done this yet, I would highly recommend it. See a neurologist. They can look at your records, order more tests if necessary, and try to come up with a diagnosis. You have an irregular heart rate and headaches and the doctor won't give you medicine for them? That's a bunch of crap. Doctors sometimes have a hard time pinpointing a specific disease because they don't "think outside the box." They don't even consider the possibility that all of these symptoms could be related to one particular illness. I'm no doctor, but I would highly recommend finding another doctor. It may take a while, but you'll make it. Good luck to you. By the way, ask your next doctor if they could do an electroensephelograph. (EEG for short.)

I've reread the first post, and it sounds like they'd almost have to monitor you during one of these episodes.

Post 22 by bea (I just keep on posting!) on Saturday, 08-Sep-2007 8:13:41

was a medical transcriptionist no doctor, but I know they have a test called a sleep electroencephalogram. There are also other tests for epilepsy; I would definitely demand thorough workup. Even if you have no medical insurance, you have the right for good medical care even though you are blind.
